somebody gets it

Going 'out' to bars send me into a state of panic, so the aperitivo hour 6.30/7.30pm suits me quite well; time to get home to cook dinner, but also the sense of being sociable without having to try and figure out the bar etiquette of drinking after 10.00pm in Verona...seen to be seen I think this is the point, I'm yet to fully embrace this.
The warmer evenings are fast approaching, so no more excuses and hiding in my cozy apartment.
This little bar which opened last summer is directly behind the Arena...technically in the line of all tourists in Verona but so far they're a no show, the exterior is beautifully restored and original...the down side, the service is - ok, the apertitivo snacks are - non exsistent. But being a sucker for interiors and anything with a little bit of history...I'll be back for my Spritz Aperol.

Explore. Dream

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

Somebody loves me...

I've been fighting a sickness for a couple of weeks now, by Thursday my body had had enough...to bed with me for a day. Tea and sympathy is even better when it comes in a little package of sweet treats.

sleeping with cashmere & silk.

Never one to complain that spring has arrived, but for those of you who have problems sleeping, the sunlight peeping through your blinds an hour earlier can be miserable...my poor Mum being a sufferer, so for Easter my Mum has the luxury of sleeping with cashmere and silk eyemask.

today

:: today I love ::

listening to Radio 2
coming home to clean crisp bedding
easter eggs
all the nuns preparing for the Easter festivities
buying fresh produce
shiny painted toes
cups of tea

Do you want Vinegar with that?

There's always a slight feeling of 'do i have to' when you have to get up at 4.30am to catch your flight. This trip was no different, however once we made it to Frankfurt the lovely surprise of an upgrade reduced the pain, somehow that takes the dread away for 8 hours and 5 days...until the return trip.
NYC never disappoints, although it helps that it's a city filled with some of my favorite people, all willing to eat great food and hangout. No matter how fancy the restaurant or how delicious the food, brunch always comes up trumps for me in NYC...Ashley was so excited about a new spot for brunch, it was worth the 3 day wait for Sunday Brunch at Vinegar Hill House the favorite of this trip. 1 too many Bloody Marys and yummy Beans on Toast with poached eggs, mushrooms, shallots, followed by a shared Angela's Sourdough Pancake with fresh ricotta & brûléed bananas, which reminded me of my Mums Bread and butter pudding (a recipe request is in the mail) Back to normality for a while...well almost, France with my lovely folks and the dog for Easter weekend...and hopefully some Brocantes for some irresistible treasures...
